Hi Everyone,
Nice to know that all Bio people are getting together here... I have a background (B.Tech) in biochemical technology and hoping to get into MS programs in biomedical engineering or biotechnology. Does anyone have the list for biomedical engineering or biotechnology program rankings? Rahul Last edited by Myriad : 2005 November 28th at 05:06 PM. |

Many those are some nice stats...
Im probably gonna graduate with a 3.7 GPA from UCLA in biochem. No research yet, no GRE yet, no LORs yet. I have 1 year to get my profile looking nice... I'm planning on student research and getting a research related job.. Do you think that will be enough by the time I graduate? Also, do you have any advice for cultivating relationships with professors? One more question.. would it look better if I were to advance my mathmatics classes or to just take more upperdivision courses related to the bio sciences (im limited in units so I cannot do both). |

Thanks, everyone. One year in a student job might not be enough. If you want to work as a lab tech for a year or two, it's a good way of getting experience and money, and it's actually a nice break from school. As far as the math classes go, it depends on what you want to do. If you're looking for biochem or bioinformatics, I would say to take the math classes. Otherwise, I'd say take the bio classes - if you don't, you're going to have to take them in grad school anyway.
