Admissions stats...

Time for hard stats...

Do we have any info as to how many people apply to each school, how many are admitted, and how many actually enroll similar to this one for UCLA?

http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu/asis/progprofile/result.asp?selectmajor=246&searchDeptButton=Displa y+Report

I had no idea the admit number was so big. Now I have one more reason to feel miserable for not making it.

That's funny. I got this from the website as well.

"The entering class size is about 25 students out of approximately total 120 in the graduate program. Because of the large applicant pool (about 600 per year)"

The UCLA data is very interesting.

FYI, I have been replying to those depts that sent me decisions via email to ask how many apps they had this year. Brown had over 800, Chicago had 508 (asked over the phone), and UMD had over 700. Berkeley replied that they do not make this information public.

Just one thing about that data. The footnotes say that it was collected between 1998-2002. Given what we are hearing this year about the number of applicants to many schools, I wouldn't be suprised if those numbers are much higher. (The applicants, which would reduce the acceptance rate quite a lot.)

I doubt that's the average. It seems that about half the people graduate in 5 years and half in 6 years. Very few take longer than 6 years...
