Here is my dilemma. 3 Admits, no funding.
Since I do not have any souce of alternate funding, should I accept any of these offers and try to find an alternate source till fall? Also is the acceptance of admission binding in any way?

If y are an international, it doesn't work since they wont process your visa sponsorship till you show your funding.

I am an international but I am already in the US finishing up on my undergrad.

Like all questions, the answer is "it depends". what are these schools? Are any of them work taking a $30,000 risk for the first year? What are your chances of getting funding at the end of the first semester? How likely are you to go to this school in the fall? In any case, I don't see it being perticularly harmful for you to accept one of these places and then you never know, they might end up funding you. You never know if any of the internationals end up getting their visas denied or some other way that funding becomes available over the summer.

Is it possible that you can defer until next year and brush up your credentials in the mean time? I was surprised to find that it was possible to defer for econ phd at UCSD. You are guarnteed admission for the next year and then they will re-evaluate you for funding.Originally Posted by laplace
