Rejection Time!
Well, it is finally pay back. Today is the day we get to reject people.......
No wait...Why do we have to reject them.....We could postpone our rejecting them....Till next week...Or maybe next month!!! Then they'll see what it is like ![]() So, what are your plans for sending rejections? |

You probably mean rejecting acceptance letters, but this is a good time to bring back the rejection-of-rejection-letter, letter, for the likes of us who have had precious few acceptance letters to afford us the luxury of rejecting all but one, but with rejection letters galore...
Here it is: April 1, 1998 Graduate Admissions Committee Department of Psychology Big Deal University Collegeville, USA Dear Committee Members: Thanks for your letter of March 30. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your rejection at this time. This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field of schools, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals. Despite your outstanding record and previous experience in rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my current career needs. Consequently, I will begin taking classes as a graduate student in your department this August. I look forward to seeing you then. Best of luck in rejecting future applicants. Sincerely Yours, [Name Withheld] Originally found here: http://www.socialpsychology.org/reject.htm And first posted here: http://www.urch.com/forums/graduate-...ct-letter.html (Hilarious: How to reject a reject letter...) |

Here's mine, in the style of UCSD's rejection letter, though I do actually have a decent admit.
Dear Graduate Admissions Committee, Your rejection of my application for graduate study in the Economics program, at the University of Whatever has been carefully reviewed. I regret to inform you that you have not been selected for rejection. A number of factors are considered in evaluating each institution. Please be aware that I received a very large number of rejections and many excellent universities could not offer admission. Unfortunately, I am only able to extend rejections to a limited number of qualified institutions. Thank you for your interest in my voluntary servitude for the next 5-6 years. An official letter has been posted on the rejection status page of your rejection letter at [insert link here]. I wish you the best in all your future attempted rejection endeavors. Sincerely, [your name here] Graduate Assistant (yeah, you're funding me too, fools!) Department of Economics University of Whatever, Nowhere, USA In terms of actually turning down offers, how do you remove yourself from waiting lists? I'm still waiting for a couple of schools and know that no matter what they offer, they can't beat where I'm actually going to go. I have a couple of low level admits to turn down as well, but, not to sound snobby, they should have seen this coming. |
