question for you: If you are good enough to get into LSE, then you are probably good enough to get into one of the top 50 phd places in the US, where the funding situation is much more generous and unlike the UK, international students are considered for scholarships. If funding is a problem, why not apply to a US school, and get a start on your phd?

I believe I could get in at top50... However, I aim somewhat higher (top20)...
