Finance501, you made this thread about me -- my initial posts were all about you But if you want to get technical, your original post didn't concern anyone here except for you -- by posting it on a public bulletin board, you opened it up to comments. And sorry, not just to comments that you agree with.

As for your order to "vacate the thread" if I do, can we announce "Asquare has left the building?" I didn't know I was next in line, after the Japanese Prime Minister, to be the King

well, asquare is creating positive external effects which is great. you on the other hand...are at least amusing. but we better stop bickering now or the thread gets closed before others have seen it.

But he's not welcome into my thread. I understand his point that he thinks he doesn't whine. Either way he has a lot to say on a lot of different topics, so if anyone is barely scratching hte surface it is more likely to be the guy who posts 157 times than the guy who posts 8 times. I dislike the fact that he's reduced a serious unexamined, underdiscussed matter like age bias into his bbq plans. If he treats serious claims like anecdotal aberrations, I have to wonder about his ability to face difficult issues. And if all he has to say on the original topic is that he lives on the board and that's not drama, but a person who posts on a serious matter is dramatizing and has nothing valuable to say, it's better he find another thread to share his vast wealth of advice. I don't want to deprive any of the newbies his veritable fount of wisdom. Werner go frolic with your little friend in another thread.

Finance501, if you want to discuss issues, I refer you to the substantive questions from my second post:

Just as workers suing for age bias have to be able to show that their age, rather than their performance, was a factor in their not being hired/promoted/given a raise, you would need to show that it was your age not your answers on exams that led to your lower grade. So I ask again -- did you see other students' exams? How do you know that you didn't get the grade you deserved, relative to the rest of the class and the professor's legitimate standards? Do you even know what the grade distribution was? Perhaps he didn't give any As -- do you know? Do you even know how old other students in the class were? It's not so easy to tell just by looking at someone -- and you say that you "graduated a few years ago" -- how do you know how old the professor thinks you are?

I was willing to discuss the issue from the get-go, but what I wasn't willing to do was to concede immediately that being a "non traditional student" plus getting a lower than desired grade implies that you were a victim of discrimination. I'm sure everyone is eager for you to fill in the missing pieces. (And please enlighten me -- how is a one-sided account of one person's experience anything but an annecdote?)

My bbq plans became a topic of conversation when you asked what else I did besides post here; you opened that door, not me. And a thread on a public BB isn't private property -- you don't get to decide who can and can't post on it.
