shootermcgavin7 is almost a TestMagic guru.
RAND's Policy Analysis program has good placements - although I should point out that even though they currently have a PhD Micro series there are rumors that they trying to de-emphasize the econ slant in their current curriculum.

I think you should give us a clearer description of what you called political economy. Most economists from mainstream tradition understand political economy either as welfare analysis with normative (social choice) foundations or as a political-based analysis of business cycles. However, many economists, especially from non-mainstream traditions, might consider it a kind of Neo-Marxist and/or Post-Keynesian analysis. Lastly, one would argue that political economy is a way of analyzing economic facts with a kind of normative and interdisciplinary methodology, since political economists from all ages share such a methodological viewpoint.

Am I clear while expecting a clearer description from you? :-)
