Admission Advice for Mech Engg

Gave my GRE in June. My scores are as follows

Math: 700 (68th percentile)

Verbal: 520 (64th percentile)

Analytical Writing: 6 / 6

Am planning to apply for fall '07 for a masters degree in Mech Engg. Undergrad GPA 8.523/10 (mostly top 10% of class) and a research paper (though not in an international journal). Some Univs am considering:

Cornell
Texas Austin
Maryland - College park
U Wisc, Madison
Penn State
Columbia (FU)
Ohio State

Do I stand a chance? Also can anyone tell me what are the "safe bets" for Engg?

For engineering, your Math Score is too low, it needs to be closer to 800Q, but no less than 740~750, which I think is the 80th percentile.

yep, you should retake to improve the quant.
and u have enough time to do that

Yup retake your quant score....if you get above 750...you are most probably going to get into UT Austin...and they dont take much importance in verbal....400 and above is enough for them....its actually pretty easy to get in....so dont worry about it...

I missed answering one question in Quant. Is that why my score dropped this much?
