HI,
I am starting a PhD program in Economics this September and would like to have good math background for the first courses. They start with: Blanchard & Fisher, Ljungquist & Sargent, Stokey & Lucas Mass-Collel, Whinston & Green So far I have revised Chiang's Fundamental Methods in Math Economics and intend to continue for the remaining time with Elements of Dynamic Optimization (Chiang) and De La Fuente. This Includes: Linear Algebra, Calculus, Contrained Optimisation and Dynamics. What would you recommend? How to continue? Thanks, Georgi |

You might want to pick up Sundaram's "A first course in optimization." It goes over some pretty important concepts--Kuhn-Tucker, the Maximum Theorem, etc-- that you'll probably see in your Micro class. The text is also well-written.
