Disadvantages of taking admission in Summer session

Hi,

I am planning to give my GRE on the 10th of September. I think that i have got late for the spring semester because the application deadline for most of the universities is 1 - 10th Sep (US universities). Now I have a chance to take admission in the summer session, I have heard that taking admission in summer has many disadvantages (esp for international students) like you dont have TA / RA available in summer and universities provide limited courses in summer etc etc. I want to know that what are the disadvantages of taking admission in summer.
