Hello all, I posted this same thread in the PhD Econ forum, but this seems like a more appropriate place.
Undergrad Econ/Operations Research at not well known state school. Overall GPA is 3.18 but GPA for last 67 (out of 124) is 3.79 which included most important course work --I have the usual story to explain this disparity--. In masters program in Econ right now (completed one year) at slightly better but not famous state school with 4.0 GPA so far. Math: Up to Calc 3, Lin Alg, Linear/Integer Programming, Math Stats, taking Diff Eq and Advanced Calc this fall and expect good grades. Econ: math econ, theory, and metrics all up through masters level (including additional graduate course on Time Series). Still studying for GRE. Took GMAT in 2004 and got 95th percentile on the quant. Expect the same or better for GRE. Grad assistant, mostly RA stuff, working on a paper with my prof intended to be published but not before app time. My interests are Monetary, empirical Macro, oil, etc. Expect very positive LORs from not very famous econ profs and one math prof. Completed AEA summer program at famous university. PhD programs to apply. -------------(seriously considering)------------- Princeton (reach) Boston U UCSD (dont really want to go to Cali so I chose only one) Penn State Indiana Johns Hopkins Duke Pittsburgh Vanderbilt Wash U St Louis ----------------(kind of considering)------------- Rutgers U Illinois Texas Austin Please comment on chances for acceptance, funding, and also if there are other schools I should consider. |
