Scholarship Interview .........I am in a dilemma

I just had my graduate scholarship interview before 2 days ago. I can't say that I was SUPER, but the others were just like me, we were all at the same level. However, for some reason, one of the interviewers thought that I was nervous and also one of the participants said that I did well but I was nervous! Actually, I don't think that I was nervous, but I usually take things very seriously and I tend to act seriously and just can't relax like the others when I am dealing with something that is top serious for me. I usually, in normal hours, tend to make gestures and fast movements. So the problem is that this how I am usually. But unfortunately, the admission committee has no idea about that! And when my interview was over, I didn't receive the word" Excellent" meanwhile the other two participants after me took it :-(. Does all that mean anything? The interview was just 15 minutes, and it end up very quickly. However, I just want to know from the experiences of others and want to know what kind of impact an interview has on one's admission.

I wasn't very perfect in my answers, but the others weren't too. We all had some stupid answers and some good answers. I think what was good in my answer that they were straightforward. Meanwhile some of the others weren't that way. Because I was applying for an MBA scholarship, I was kinda boastful. But, I also didn't give some direct answer to their questions; I was manipulative in my answers. Anyways, I got the feeling that they didn't like me, coz I just received a "Thank you". Anyways, some participants told me that I did well. And I dunno if they really meant it. However, I am nervous right now, and I just don't know what to do. Should I send a THANK YOU letter to the admission committee? Just to show that I have professional manners and etc?

Sometimes, I think I will get admission and sometimes I just think that I would receive a SORRY letter.

Need to hear from your experiences and what you guys think about interviews and how serious they are.

I think that you should just wait on their decission. Be calm.

I had an experience at the beginning of this year. I applied for the Fulbright Scholarship but I really really messed it on one particular question. Dude, the same time I was answering that god damn question I became aware that I screwed it up. I KNEW as soon as I closed my mouth, that I was doomed. It was horrible. I don't know what those suckers where looking for anyway.

I think what shoaibakram was trying to say, if you look behind the bravado and posturing, is: PhD students can be pretty obsessive. Don't let it overwhelm you.

agcr1.... What if I said that this was a Fulbright interview? Yes, mine was a Fulbright interview too. I am still waiting for their answer! Have you got the admission or what?

Anyways, I still regret that I haven't sent a thank you note after the interview. It doesn't make sense to send it now! Does it?

Old thread, but anyway. Footloose, congrats.

I had my fulbright interview yesterday... and I think I screwed up big time. The question was "what are u planning to do after the scholarship period in USA?" ( I am applying for usa scholarship from my country).

Because my long term plan is to work somewhere abroad, I said that I am going to work probably at my current employer, but if something comes up in USA I could work there, I dont know what will happen in few years....

their response was that I should work in my country for 2 years after the shcolarship, because that is the condition. I replied, "Oh, I didnt know that"...

Anyway, I realized that I should work kind of ambassador of my country and I should use my new knowledge in my country... I think that is the purpose of the scholarship... :S

    Any comments?
