Econ Phd and Math subject GRE

Hey everyone, I just joined the forum.

I'm a double major in math and econ (minor in international relations) and thought that maybe it would improve my possibilities of getting into a good program (I'm from a not well known econ program) if i took the math subject GRE, and I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on how this may influence adcoms. BTW i'm fairly confident I could do well

my other stats, just to let you guys know--

-3.7 gpa (GRE or math GRE not taken yet)
-2 semesters real analysis, abstract algebra, stats, topology, complex analysis, advanced discrete math
    -summer research in math (REU)
-summer phd program (AEASP)--advanced micro, game theory, macro, econometrics, research paper
-letters of rec from dept. chair, yale, columbia (who is not well-published however)

i'm interested in theory and some more (politically) radical schools, can anyone suggest non-20 programs that fit these interests? i've looked at umass amherst.

    thanks for your help

EDIT: sorry, i just wanted to see how much i should worry about the math GRE. thanks again.

I took the math subject test and bombed it: 600 - 40 percentile (I have an excuse, but its still a bad score). I sent it, figuring, who cares. I don't think anyone did, as I got accepted and rejected mostly based on everything else. So, I guess if you aren't sure and you have the money, it won't hurt. But I doubt it will help.

I can't see the math subject test helping much. If your grades in analysis and topology are solid, then there's not much more in the way of your math that you need to signal to the admissions committees.
