Hello all, I think this would the funniest query which most people wouldn't expect. If the recommender signs the reco with any pen other than "Green", it wouldn't be considered authentic.........this is what I was told from 1 of my friends! I felt its foolishness.......but r they any body who would agree with my friend's comments?? Also, in the reco. form, when it mentions, "How long & in what capacity the applicant is known to u"......what would be the appropriate answer?? And the reco form sent by the univs. mandatory?? Most of my proffs. r busy.....hence the concern. Harsha |

Green, it is very funny indeed. I think your friend has been joking with you.
<<---------- Also, in the reco. form, when it mentions, "How long & in what capacity the applicant is known to u"......what would be the appropriate answer?? <<----------- I think this is a question that your recommender should answer, not you unless you are writing your recommendation and hope your professor will sign it (Believe me, this happens a lot in my country). <<---------- And the reco form sent by the univs. mandatory?? Most of my proffs. r busy.....hence the concern. <<----------- I assume you are working, and you can get a reco outside the university. However recos from the univs. counts by far the most important, unless you have good research experience where you are working in. Thus try to find a suitable time even if they are busy. |

My friend who got his reco. forms done by the professors, responded differently for the, "How long & in what capacity the applicant is known to u"..question.
I personally saw those forms wherein one proff. responded for the above question like,....."for ** years, as a student"....& another wrote, " for ** years as a teacher". So my friend(& even myself) was a bit perplexed seeing the response.........u could just reply, which one of the above statements r right. |

I think for ** years, as a student (and sth following here will be better)
is right. for ** years as a teacher" sounds very awkward. If he/she is a professor of course he/she will know as a teacher. Or it may mean he/she recently finished Phd. But for the better, the answer should be for ** years, as a student in my *** class, research project, assistanship etc. |
