paragtandon
Hi Guru(s), I went to the 'MBA forum' workshops. The former addmission director there, categorically told not to go a SINGLE word beyond the limit. She justified it as ADCOM has too much to read, it can take offense and as a business writer, you are supposed to be succint. What do you think? What about 1100 word on a 1000 word essay. Thanks, Parag

Erin
Stay as close as possible to the guidelines--they exist for a reason. I almost always come in precisely at or a word or two under the guidelines. If I do go over, it's only by a word or two. But 1100 words for a 1000 word-essay is unacceptable, IMO. shivani_bha
Erin, I read on an essay site - MBA Applicant - to be precise that the essay may exceed the word limit by 50 words. Sometimes shortening the essay makes the essay lose its essence - do you agree with this? Shivani.
