Profile Evaluation
Discipline/Branch: Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech)
GRE Score :1430 ( V 680 + Q 750 ). Undergrad aggregate percentage : 80%.(Upto the Third Year of study). Class topper by a wide margin.Non-descript college somewhere in Southern India(Hyderabad, actually.Affiliated to the JNT University). TOEFL(iBT):117.(L:29,S:28,W&R :30) Program applying to: MS in Mechanical Engineering. Also, given the fact that I've had to begin the application presposterously late, the first criterion I've considered for 'short-listing' the Uni's was the application deadline,so here's a tentative rapsheet: 'Tier One'-(Well nigh impossible to get into):GIT,Carnegie Mellon,Texas A&M-College Station. T2 Might just be able to squeeze in):UoWashington-Seattle , Virginia Polytech,UoPittsburgh,Rennsselaer Polytech,UoDelaware,UoVirginia,UoRochester.T3 Actually possible!):UoIowa,UoAlabama,UoKansas.So....What do you reckon my chances are ? I'll need help undercutting this list-Way too many colleges in there ! ![]() Or am I just plain delusional ? Any help would be appreciated. |

BhaRaKri,
I relly think you can do away with the ones marked in red. Tier One'-(Well nigh impossible to get into):GIT,Carnegie Mellon,Texas A&M-College Station. T2 Might just be able to squeeze in):UoWashington-Seattle , Virginia Polytech,UoPittsburgh,Rennsselaer Polytech,UoDelaware,UoVirginia,UoRochester.T3 Actually possible!):UoIowa,UoAlabama,UoKansas.Getting into the MS program at RPI can be pretty tough I think. Georgia Tech would not be really tough for a profile like yours as of late they seem to be taking in a lot of International students! Also are you sure you have'nt crossed the deadline for TAMU, because I remember them having pretty early deadlines! Otherwise I think your pretty good to go!
