Hi friends,

I have a query. I have my GRE on 24th Dec but I will send all my apps by first week of december. I will not send my GRE scores to univs. almost all univs have deadlines frm jan 1 to jan 15 and probably as ETS say my GRE score will be out by Jan 9th (15 days after test date).

Now is this permissible tht though my app reaches before deadline but my GRE score after deadline say 9 days after deadline. thn in this case will my app be taken into consideration or rejected as late app. I have seen written on sum univ. sites tht "it is okay to recieve GRE score after deadline" but wht is the General answer to this question.

Ppl who have applied earlier can you also throw sum light on this issue.

also UIUC has deadline of dec 20. so if I send my app to them and thn take GRE on dec 24th can they object as I took GRE after thr deadline.

Pls help freinds...

Vinay

Vinay,

Many universities do say they accept the scores even after the application deadlines, but some want every application material to reach them or at least post marked before the deadline. Make sure about this in the universities where you want to apply. In fact, some universities ask the applicants to apply early.

I would suggest not to delay until Dec 24th if possible, can you try at least a week earlier? Remember about the long weekends in Dec, Christmas, New Year, etc. I hope you are taking it in the US. If ETS says 15 days, assume at least 20 days. Good luck with your preparations!! Write to the grad admission departments of universities where you want to apply and see what they say.

Hi murboy and sunxcat,

thnx for the info :-))))

I will send all other stuff in december 1st week by dhl so it will reach in abt 2-3 days after sending. the only thing tht will remain will be GRE score. I have heard tht applications r timestamped accrding to the date they r recieved. also I m applying online so it will be fast. but GRE score I cant help, I can only hope tht ETS deliver it atleast by Jan 9. coz one of my univs has deadline of jan 1st and other have jan 15. do you think universities can reject applications coz of delayed GRE report? I think its pretty common with ETS to delay score report.

thnx again guys :-))))

Not really Vinay ! better send yur scores thru email/fax to the universities when you get them on the test day so tht Us will know yur score atleast(and can confirm it after you send them yur score report). But, I dont think univs will reject apps coz of delayed score report. If it does, then ??@#$%!@!!!!!!

All the best for yur GRE !!!!
