Questions about deadlines

I just received my transcripts yesterday, so I am doing a mass mail out with DHL. Thing is, some of my schools have deadlines on 15th and 17th - tomorrow.

Some schools mention specifically that supporting materials can reach a few days after the deadline. Others say nothing. Others say that both have to be within the deadline. Like UC Berkeley - deadline on the 17th... my packet is now in transition somewhere in the Balkans (from the DHL tracking site) ... and it will reach on 18th-19th...

So, whats the general consensus? Will they consider my application?

One point that people make in the above thread is that the admissions committee of each department doesn't do anything until January, anyway.
For example, a biology department at Berkeley, with a graduate school admissions deadline of December 15th, says this:

Our faculty committee will begin reviewing the applications in early January

So that's one reason why a graduate school admissions office may be not be very strict.

Of course, the best way to get reassurance is to call the graduate school admissions office. For example:

I just emailed my admissions rep for the school. I apologized and explained the situation, and she told me it would be fine, that they still had lots of apps to sort through. i'm relieved, and scared into always double checking deadlines!
