What is major and minor?

Hi,
I have BS in Computer Science and Engineering. Now they ask for mentioning major and minor. Major would be computer science and engineering undoubtedly. But what to choose as minor? There were a bunch of courses like math, electrical engineering, etc. Now what should be done here?

Probably you don't have a minor. Some people take some courses in another discipline at their schools and that is called Minor. It is like having dual degrees.

Ancalagon The Black is on the way!
A minor is not a dual degree neither is a major a degree. A major is essentially around 32 credits of courses in a single discipline along with required courses in related disciplines.

A minor is around 15 credits of courses in a single discipline.

You just write computer science and engineering in the major section and leave the rest vacant.

Having a minor is absolutley not "like having dual degrees." Generally, minors are relatively easy to obtain while dual degrees are not.

Majors and minors are official declarations. At my university, which I believe has a very common process, you pick your major first and then usually that determines what kind of degree you get (BA or BS). After that, you can add a minor, which you have to apply for. Minors usually require you to take a few specific classes and a few electives.

For example, you can't just get a minor in math because you took some math classes, you have to have taken specific math classes. Sometimes major class requirements and minor class requirements overlap, in that you can take one class to satisfy multiple requirements.

If you haven't applied for a minor, then you almost surely don't have one, and so you should leave the space blank.

Exactly. If you had a minor, you would know about it. Most people do not have minors.
