Hello all,

I'm a new member to this site. Please help in selection of univs....fall deadlines are fast approaching. My credentials:

GRE : 2210 (800+770+640) AWA:4.5/6
TOEFL : 283
ACADS : 85.5% till 6th sem.

I'm doing final year BE(CSE). I'd like to do MS in CS starting fall 04. Till date, I've applied only to Univ of Arizona, Tucson.
I'm considering
Univ of Minnesota, twincities
Univ of cincinnati
SUNY, stonybrook

I guess these come in the mediocre range. I want to try my luck with some top ranked univs. But I dont want to apply blindly. So please help me and tell me if I have any chance in some top univs.
I want to apply to 7-8 univs in total.

hey gaktg,
I guess you have entered yur score wrongly. How could you hav 3 section scores + an AWA score ??!! thtz not possible ! even if 4.5 is converted to 800 scale, it would be 600 only ! or have you taken the awa part with yur AGRE ?

ok....toptiers in CS...here it goes :UCLA, UCSD, UCI, Vtech(very good in CS !!), try UNChapel hill, wis-mad !

I've taken my GRE in the old patern...and after that I've taken the AWA test separately. I couldnt take the AGRE as dates weren't available.
Doesn't UCLA require AGRE? Is there anything like UCSD takes only IITians from India?
Do I have some chance in UIUC/CMU/UT Austin/PSU/GATECH??

Are the univs which I'm considering in the mediocre tire good for my score?

I dont hink UCSD takes ppl only frm IIT...I've known some of my frnds land there...they r not IItians. for UCLA requirements, refer their admission website ! UIUC,CMU,UTAustin have heavy...really heavy competition. Thtz natural, right ??!! for they are top schools. But, if you r really aspiring for it, make a gamble !! The mediocre schools you have mentioned are good.
and in yur score break-up , do mention the v-q-a !

I donnt think PSU would be tough for your GRE score... you shd even try OSU & Vtech if you are interested...

CMU, UIUC, UCSD and UCLA wld be tough... (my opinion)

Gatech, UTAustin, UNC is worth a try...

Q-800
A-770
V-640

and...where does PSU stand? Does it come in the top tier univs?
