gttts23's profile is outstanding
![]() Is there anyone here that has been accepted into UFL? I heard my friend said that because of the budget-cutting, this year UFL only accepted 7 new PhD students into the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering and applicants with verbal lower than 450 will get rejection. I wonder if it is true or not. @deadcoder: Congrats on ETH-Zürich. It is excellent. |

Hi heavyrain2408, thank you so much...
![]() It seems that you are quite familiar with ETH-Zurich . That's why I want your opinion about choosing my final one. Should I go for it(ETHZ) and send NO to OK State U and UTSA? What do you think???? Btw.. I'm still waiting for my other universities (Purdue,Northeastern,Rochester) results. Please pray for me... Thank you again ![]() Quote:

Though I don't personally know much about ETH-Zurich, if it is excellent as previously stated then that would be better than Ok-State and UT-San Antonio, neither of which have I heard of as being particular good in CS. If you are accepted to Purdue or Rochester then I feel the decision is much tougher. Also Zurich sounds like an amazing place to live, whereas Oklahoma is one of the most depressing states I've ever been in.

Hi Modeler,
thank you so much for your reply about my questions. You are absolutely right. I chose those two universities as my safety. Thanks to God that I got acceptance from them. And about Oklahoma and San Antonio(Texas), I have searched a lot over the internet, and didn't find much impressive information about those places, specially San Antonio (Too hot in the summer, Transport system is not so good), whereas Zürich is a great place to live, no doubt about that. But still I have a dream to attend Purdue. Please pray for me and thanks again. |

@deadcoder:
In 2006, I studied in a summer program school and knew one professor from UIUC. He told us something about Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Although he got his Ph.D. from Lausanne - EPFL but he did assert that EPFL and ETHZ are both very good in CS and EE and can be comparable with top 30 US schools in USnews ranking I also visted their website and had a good impression for these 2 schools.I can say that they are much better than both Oklahoma State and UTSA (I never heard they are really good in CS before) |
