Hey happyentropy.
You should definitely make a decision soon, you have excellent offers. There are tons of people in waiting lists, you may want to think a second about them and be considerate. At least you can turn down places you are not going to attend for sure (like UCSD, Wisconsin, UPenn I guess). Congratulations on your admission results. |

zw849 is right. I sent an email to UPenn but have no reponse while there are some who got rejections by email (from the thegradcafe.com). So I guess/hope I am in the waitlist of UPenn.
If anyone is not planning to go to UPenn, please tell the grad chair there ASAP. It will help people who are on the waitlist. Thank you very much. |

I don't think Penn results have been released yet. I have a source inside the department who told me that the decisions were made last Thursday, but they need a dean to sign off on them first. This source also tells me that I'm on the list of admitted students, but I haven't received any communication from them, so don't worry about it if you haven't heard.

I don't know why so many people have so much "inside" information about applying graduate programs. (Don't think it in a negative way. I am just curious.) Say the "inside" admission process, who are admitted or not, whether the applicants are strong or weak.
Of course one of the ways to obtain these information is to ask the profs. The profs are so nice that they are willing to tell these information to applicants. This will not be the case, at least in my country, according to what I know. Other ways could be you have friends doing PhDs there. Unfortunately I don't have one. |
