I have got my GRE score:
    V 540, Q 780, these 2 items are ok, but for AWA, I only got 3.5.
Time is not enough for me to retake it again, and I am worrying about if this low AWA score will do me a lot of harm.

Do you think this will? If yes, how can I do something to make up for this? Thank you so so much!

Btw, I will apply for Master program in Economics.

Congratulations! Your scores look ok. Yes, the AWA might have been a bit higher, but given that you're applying for a Master program, it should work.
I'm glad to see there are some other people here into Economics . What schools are you applying at?
    Good luck with your applications.

One more thing: maybe you can compensate a bit for your lower AWA through a nice SOP.

    Thank you!

Cause English is not mother language, I am satisfied with the V and Q score. However, after I got the AWA score, I am worrying about whether this low AWA score will do a lot of harm for my application for admission and financial aid

CUrrently, I plan to apply for MIT, BC, Tufts, etc.

    Good luck to you!

I actually worry about my AWA too. I got 5.0, with V670 and Q800. English is not my mother tongue either. However, I'm applying for a Ph.D. in Economics so this makes things more difficult for me, especially since I have no teaching or research experience. I also need financial aid, or it's just useless to get in without it.

    Hey friends,

I am applying to Econ programs too (PhD)

The bad part with GRE AWA is that ETS not only sends the score but also sends the essays to the schools so the admission committee can read the essays and appreciate for themselves if the candidate writes well or...

My impression is, however, the GRE part of the application is important, can make a difference but it is not everything. If you have strong ref letters, SOP, GPA and other supporting application materials, they can compensate for a low score in AWA and you have high chances to get admitted in the school of your dreams.

    Good Luck!

HI laura, for economics, quant is the most important. A friend of mine got into Harvard for Economics with verb: 410, quant: 800 and analytical :600 (old GRE format).
GPA and experiences play more important,

    Good luck

    Hi Fortune,

Thanks a lot for the encouragement. My GPA is ok I think (9.71 out of 10). My experience is not very relevant. Since graduation, I've been working for an american company (which is good I think), but this would be much more relevant for an MBA.
    How are your applications going?
    Good luck.
