hi calmlogic,
why are you so down on Penn MCIT? That's the only place i applied and was accepted. My wife attends school in the Philly area and I'm in the SF Bay Area. Are there any other things I should know about the PENN MCIT besides the expensive cost? Thanks! |

mcit-graduates (Lots of people from non-ranking schools get hired by Microsoft, and the link above only mentions one Microsoft position.) The following job title of an MCIT graduate is almost embarrassing after paying that kindof money since even a BS degree from UT Dallas could have been enough: Associate Software Engineer, DSG (Document Solutions Group) Malvern, PA So that makes you wonder how much previous experience the people had who got more senior jobs at companies like PayPal. Thanks for the help calmlogic. I'm coming from very little IT experience. I have some sql and vb experience, and a java course, but that's about it. so with my circumstances, UPENN would work well because all the others have more prerequisites. I just hope the quality of instruction is good.
Hey Agart, have you made a decision??? |

Hi guys,
Brand new to the site and just found out today that I was admitted to MCIT also - its the only cs/it program I applied to since my undergrad background is in engineering science. I like in PA and have family in the area, so for me, its the only program I considered. I'm actually fairly pumped about the degree, aside from the cost as was mentioned. I keep hearing about bad ROI, but have you guys considered the opportunity cost of not working? To me it makes paying extra (even 10k) for the right program seem well worth it, especially if you can finish in less time. I'm hoping to keep this thread going and see if you guys decided to attend? Spoke to one grad student there, his feedback was very positive. |
