shawnMgardy
I would check out this link.... http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/ranknatudoc_brief.php One would think that you would have a good chance at obtaining addmissions in most schools up untill the top twenty in United States. Once your applying in the top twenty it might get a bit thick. Obviously, the doctral rankings differ slightly from the individual economics department rankings, but not by much. But, if I were you I would pick the top fifty schools, find out what programs appealed to be, and apply to them. Chances are, you'l get addmissions to one of them. Please post as much about your application procedures as you are comfortable with on the TestMagic forum. I myself am in economics.Good luck
Nicole
Hey Truman, It would be very helpful to take additional summer courses and also, very important, let the admission committees know this (you could also explain to them in detail what courses you intend to take up). If you want to apply for fall 2004, you have to hurry because the deadline for most universities is approaching fast . Here it is a list of top 50 programs in Economics. Hope this will help you. Good luck! Nicole Economics (Ranked in 2001*) Rank/School Average reputation score (5 = highest) 1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology 5.0 2. Truman
Thanks Nicole and Shawn! Shawn, I am currently interning at the Smithsonian Institution's finance department. My low GPA is really dampening my aspirations. Right now I am not so much worried about the rank of the school, I only want to get in and get full aid. After that I can really work at getting a good graduate GPA and then enter a good ph.d program. I think with my profile, I don't have a chance at the top fifty...i will have to look below that. But however "below" I go, for any Ph.d program they are bound to look at my GPA...i have a few C's and A's which cancel out and I have a B average..regret partying too much in college..anyways, your advice will be greatly helpful and much appreciated.
