Need advice urgently!!

I appeared in an exam in the seventh sem, but I've got an A ( Absent ) in it.

I don't know how it happened. Must have been some error on the part of administration.

I'll pass out in 10 days from now. I wanted to apply for fall,09. But NOW I'll have to give this backlog in November, and I'll get the result for the same in MAY, 09.

What are my options now?? I can't apply for MS with my backlogs pending can I?? OR should I clear it and apply for spring 2010!!

I'll have a gap of about a year in between, whole of 2009. Should I take up a job in that?? Should I take up internships OR some other course like some diploma or something??
