Hi, I am planning to go for a Ph.D in Economics. I barely studied for my GRE and my first quant was horrible, so I retook it 15 days later. Look at my results:
15 Aug: Q730 V560 A4.5
sept 4: Q780 V410 A(4.5-5??)
These 15 days of GRE studying for the Quant surely helped... but my Verbal was horrible!!!! Don't know what happened (No idea!). I think I have a very descent profile, but don't know if I can't go for the univs. I want. What do you think?
My profile:
International student
University: Trent University, Canada (small university)
Major: Mathematical Economics
Overall GPA: 3.97
Econ GPA: 4.00 (A+ in all my courses. Highest average entering fourht year)
Math GPA: 4.00 (A+ in all my courses - multivariable calc, vector calc, probability, statistical inference, linear stat models, Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, ODE, Sampling, Game theory) -
Awards: Full scholarship for undergraduate studies at Trent, awards every year for being in top averages of university, most prestigious Economics department award.
Research: Researching about multiple spell duration models (survival analysis) in Labour economics. Will probably have a paper to send to review in December.
-I am also the author of a small (126 pg) introductory econometrics textbook I did in the summer.
-Will get great LOR..
Universities I want to apply for:
-Stanford
-Cornell
-UC Berk
-LSE
-UBC
-Uof T
As you can see I have a very good profile, but not really good GRE results and I am not from a top univ. What are my chances? I am very disappointed after my GRE....
thanks!!!
