Resplendent antonym

Resplendent:

A) Wan
B) Stolid
C) Shoddy
D) Trite
E) Palatial

A makes the most sense, but apparently the answer is C. Any thoughts?

Resplendent means very high quality and visually attractive
Shoddy means low quality and not visually attractive.

If someone is in an expensive, well-tailored suit, you could say they are dressed resplendently.
If someone is dressed in cheap, tattered clothes, you could say they are dressed shoddily.

C is the answer.

Wan means pale, usually from some sort of illness. It is not an antonym of resplendent.
