I think achromatic here is a scientific term which is applied to those lenses which do not split white light into its constituent colours. Whereas, prismatic splits white light into a spectrum, by refraction.
Panchromatic is applied to types of photosensitive films in photography. They are sensitive to all the colours, in the sense, the negatives, when developed do not miss out a single colour. |
