Re: BB- some of these are pretty good

Good show ish - 6 right!

1. FURLONG : MILE ::
(A) quart : meter
(B) grain : minim
(C) centimeter : inch
(D) second : hour
(E) gram : liter

This was a tricky one...I had chosen cm : inch and then realised that it can't work because they are from different systems of measurement (CGS and FPS). The head pair has a Sub- Unit : Unit relation since both are FPS units. I also discovered that a grain is a unit of measurement (0.065g) and a minim can mean :
1. A unit of fluid measure, as:a. In the United States, 1/60 of a fluid dram (0.0616 milliliters).
b. In Great Britain, 1/20 of a scruple (0.0592 milliliters).

2. Music A half note.
3. An insignificantly small portion or thing.
4. A downward vertical stroke in handwriting

2. AUCTIONEER : BIDDER :: (Seller :Buyer)
(A) merchant : shopper
(B) peddler : wholesaler
(C) tenant : renter
(D) judge : defendant
(E) conductor : composer

3. DANCE : CHOREOGRAPHY :: ( B is a graphiacl representation of A)
(A) rhythm : time
(B) building : blueprint
(C) picture : frame
(D) skeleton : bone
(E) mathematics : equation.

4. CONTENTIOUS : QUARRELS :: ( A [person] leads to B)
(A) apprehensive : phobias
(B) guilty : punishments
(C) puerile : ambitions
(D) litigious : lawsuits
(E) mendacious : felonies

5. STYLISHNESS : FOPPERY :: (Degree leading to Negative Connotation)
(A) finery : modishness
(B) detail : complexity
(C) frugality : stinginess
(D) healthiness : hardiness
(E) frailty : flimsiness

6. HARBINGER : EVENT :: (A occurs before/signals B)
(A) prologue : narrative
(B) prophet : prediction
(C) envoy : delegation
(D) inception : beginning
(E) operation : recovery

7. BALLISTICS : PROJECTILES :: (A is the study of B)
(A) aesthetics : impressions
(B) numismatics : coins
(C) geography : continents
(D) forensics : opponents
(E) hydraulics : liquids.

This is slightly unsatisfactory. Hydraulics is actually the study of fluids and a liquid would be a kind of fluid. I guess this is the best of the lot

8. PORRINGER : BOWL :: (A is a type of B)
(A) terra-cotta : vase
(B) stiletto : dagger
(C) pinnacle : spire
(D) caning : chair
(E) gravy : boat

9. MEDLEY : MELODIES :: ( A is a collection of B)
(A) bibliography : books
(B) index : data
(C) museum : paintings
(D) anthology : poems
(E) bank : investments

Re: BB- some of these are pretty good

illusionz,
as for ques.7, ballastics is the study of dynamics (motion) of projectiles as in the case of hydraulics which mainly deals with the flow of liquids and fluids. I think this is the best possible explaination.

Numismatics
means the study of coins and also satisfies the bridge that A is the study of B, but as explained above hydraulics:liquids is the most appropriate choice here.
