Thumbs up 1235 Gre Antonyms Uploaded

QUID PRO QUO ( a fitting return)

Time is just ripe for me returning favors done to me by nice n lively TM.
Here goes one attachment (ANTONYMS PACK) having 1235 antonyms problems. Each line in it is one antonym question. First word is the question word followed by five answer-choice wrods. The letter at the end of each line is the OA for that particular question in that line.

another thread that contained great resource of antonyms of most of all barron words are here in thi thread...originally posted by attrc. Download 'totallist.zip' from there.
http://www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28280 (List of Frequent Antonyms)

see if these help! BEST OF THE BEST TO ALL TMIANS.

p.s. will try to post some SC, ANALOGY, RC materials if possible. Good Luck!

A nice collection, dipesh! Thanks.

How did you find the antonyms level of the real test? Were they known words
or did you find some of them out of the blue whose meanings cannot be made out?

Dimas, actually i don't remember accurately the wordings of ant. qs in actual test. Neverthess, perhaps u shdn't expect any repeat from anything too anyway...The qestion wrd is more often than not familiar...expect atleast that the answer-choices will necessarily be paraphrased...this practice mat. helped me a lot...particularly bcoz it also contains a lot of puzzling ones. And ETS dont pose in front u words beyond these words...may be one/two in ne particular test session...also this list helps in learning few newer words too...like for me a few in this mat. were ESTIVAL, MATUTINAL etc. That's it!

Manasi, antonyms level in real test was as I expected to be...Some needed second thought due to closely related answer-choices, the question words didnt seem novel to me...since, i was not getting the percentile standing of that particular q while answering i cldn't guess whether it was tough/easy... But one thing I can assure you...the antonym qs like STYMIE/FOSTER/APPRISE etc. which we had discussed here earlier seemed very weird to me after the test...as test answer-choices were really rational. Only one novel wrd I remember is SMARMY, that too in anlogy...NO!...I don't think an ETS framed Antonym Question will give you blues...for me all question wrds were known...bcoz i also looked at non-barron words...So, that's it!...u can cram a few out-barron word if u hv time...no harm in it...but dont do that anticipating w/o doing so u'll get blues.

Thanks for answering my query, dipesh. Did you go for non-barron words by looking up new words in the dictionary or did u you go through any particular source?

manasi, yes i did. u may try one or more of the following:

1. ALL ABOUT WORDS - Nunberg n Rosenblum...nice book hving very good quality out-barrin wrds wth stories to remember them easily.
2. THE SYNONYM FINDER - J I Rodale...this book wrkd like a thesaurus...it was very useful to me particularly for learning uncommon meanings of common words (both in/out barron).
3. Word of the Day free e-mails from www.m-w.com (very good), www.wordsmith.org, www.dictionary.com, www.onelook.com... these send one wrd per day...but m-w.com keeps all wrd of the past two months (see WOD archives) n onelook.com's archive keep last one yrs of wrds used in newspapers, books etc...u can choose from these wrds which u may thnk can be used for making ant/ana qs and cld b encountered in RCs...as RCs r nothing but edited versions of some newspaper articles or journal ones or analytical books etc.
4. Testmagic threads:
http://www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28792 (Sound Denoting Words)
http://www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24394 (WordLists Uploaded.)
http://www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12666 (Words not in Barrons)

the 3rd thread contains good (very useful in GRE context) nonBArron wrds...as that is devoted only for non-barron ones...if u like u can revive the thread also...i saw that thread after completing All About Words n found lots of 'em known...

if u want only one/two of these.. i'd say get...ALL ABOUT WORDS n the 3rd thread...if possible THE SYNONYM FINDER.

I looked in the dictionary sometimes...but for those wrods whose illustrations were given (pictures)...that way casually one knows n remebers a few wrds too...this i did very desultorily.

i crammed around 2500 non-barron wrds...but bczo i liked it n i had a month's time extra (beyond my 3-months of test prep)...so plz understand u can get Super-High GRE score w/o going for all these.

HTH
