hover plunge :: crouch : spring
Hover is the place where you hang in the air. (undecided) Plunge is to go down once decided. Crouch is to be in a sitting position (not decided) Spring is to leap forward primp: vain: gloat : smug Primp is to be careful in your own beauty Vain is to be exaggerated in self-importance. To primp is to be in vain. To gloat is to be smug (self-satisfaction) skirmish: insignificance:: duel: formality Something skirmish is insignificant (small feud) A duel is a formality and is known by both and time is set. lullaby : song :: diatribe : discourse ( this is negetive?) Lullaby is a song sung for the baby. Diatribe is a discourse which is vituperative. exhort : suggest : goad : direct exhort is to urge persistently .... suggesting persistently goad is to direct persistently by using a pointed instrument.... usually we do it to a horse. epitaph : tombstone :: motto : shield epitaph is inscription on a tombstone. motto is inscription on a shield.

Well look_hd.... Thats the best relationship you could find although it has a negative connotation. Isn't it? Lullaby is a song whereas diatribe is a discourse.

i am sorry to say that but i think
exhort does not mean is to urge persistently actually it means to be urge or encourage especially by shouts and suggest is to Make a proposal, declare a plan for something goad is a pointed instrument used to prod into motion that may be realted to directed but exhort and suggest can not be realed to goad and directe. pls friends dont send such misleading answer again motto is like a sibboleth its a favorite saying of a sect so it can not be inscrobed on shield primp is to Dress or groom with elaborate care that can not be realted to vain which means Characteristic of false pride i think dressing with elaborate care is not a sign of vanity now a days. u can realte gloat and smug that is ok hover means to be wavering to and fro and plunge is steep rapid fall how can u relate this with crouch and spring hover is be wavering to and fro : plunge is steep rapid fall :: crouch is Sit on one's heels: spring is to move forward my jump so how can u realte hover with crouch and plunge with spring that is totally absurd preeti jee i am sorry to say , but i think these analogies are of no meaning at all pls always refer good materials. and pls dont get misguided by the answer given by the people here. i think some one is trying to impress u!!! guess who!!! |

harishaegis,
I would suggest you need to recognise that many words in English have many shades of meaning. Whilst the definitions you give are not necessarily wrong many of them only reflect limited meanings of the word. In general I would agree with the definitions and bridges given by manwiththemission2005. Some do seem strange but remember he is trying to establish bridges for given pairs in which they may be typos. For your information a motto is often inscribed on a shield as represented on a coat-of-arms, cap badge etc. Incidentally you may wish to reflect that making strong comments about others' posts is not likely to encourage people to offer you help should you ask for any in the future. Are you mentally retarded or what? Don't ever make such blunt statements dude. You will get kicked out of the forum in no time. I'm tryin to help her and I'm in no way goin to impress her by posting answers. What made you think like that ???????? And , better refer the dictionary b4 posting such ugly posts. Though some of the questions are a bit weird, it's upto us to get as close to the relationship to help people. You better not post anythin like the one you did. Take that!

skirmish: insignificance:: duel: formality
MWM is right about the answer. But the explanation might be that skirmish is a fight over insignificant matters and duel is a fight over formal matters.
