how about essential quality.. it also means superficial layer on something to make it beautiful.. i am not sure.. whats the answer.. its a good question

first I guessed "essential quality" but after looking into the dictionary, I thought "partial completion" would be a better choice. But now I think essential quality is better because a way patina means top layer or superficial layer, so essential quality or core inside should be the right antonym.
