Hey "myword" there is nothing to get ashamed...after all v r all here to learn things...come on buddy...
Btw, ans for this one: I do not know exactly which one is rgt btn c and d( encroach : jealousy, demur : objection)
Countenance: means to approve(so countenance & toleration are synonym to each other)

Hope wasleys and seagull will help with this analogy too...

    myword,

    D.

To countenance = to tolerate, to demur = to object, so suggest bridge is to X is to show Y.

ans is c see the analogy structure

    [quote=myword]countenance : toleration

    a. defer : ignorance
    b. renounce : mistrust
    c. encroach : jealousy
    d. demur : objection
    e. reject : disappointment

Countenance is to approve of or give support to
Toleration is a state due to countenancing of something without your wish (acquiscence)

ignorance is to defer ( unwillingly ) not at all because defer means to cringe menially even if you do not agree, whereas ignorance is lack of knowledge, understanding or information about something

Mistrust is to renounce nope does not fit in analogy

objection is to demur ( that is only because you disagree)

Disappointment is to reject does not fit in analogy

jealousy is a state due to encroaching upon something without your wish

So I go for C -the correct answer

can anybody comment on the analogy
    thanks
    kaushik

I would like to everybody can we change the parts of speech while cosidering and making rationale sentence structure for given analogy.

    thanks kaushik

    thanks kaushik

I think the answer should be D. since countenance mean toleration, similarily, demur means objection.

Countenance is to approve of or give support to

Toleration is to accept/approve of sth without your willingness

So you can say toleration means countenancing reluctantly of sth

fitting each analogy in above sentence:

Ignorance means defering reluctantly of sth

not at all because defer to allow someone or something to make decisions for you or tell you what to do, even if you disagree with them, because of your respect for them or because of their higher rank, authority, knowledge, etc:

whereas ignorance is lack of knowledge, understanding or information about something so no question of your will.

Mistrust means renouncing reluctantly of sth : no it does not fit

objection means demuring reluctantly of sth ( you make an objection when you don't agree/approve of sth)

Disappointment means rejecting reluctantly of sth

Jealousy means encroaching reluctantly of sth

Sorry for the earlier big mistake
I was just deluged in situation so much that I couldn't come up with good setence.

can anybody comment on the analogy
    thanks

so with this D fits well

    thanks
