A formation is an arrangement of soldiers. 2) I'm not sure what the bridge is here. C is the is the only option that makes sense to me. Is it right? 3) Someone that is frank lacks secretiveness. Someone that is callow lacks maturity.
rschunti
In case of 2 tint : Suffuse "Y is of higher degree than X"
rezbipul
OA are: 1. formation : soldiers 2. amble : wonder 3. honest : theft Please explain.
StevenC
That can't be. There is no relationship between being "honest" and "theft"
wasleys
2. amble : wonder 3. honest : theft I think you mean wander M
maqsood
2) tint : suffuse a) ponder : yearn b) regret : undo c) damp : quench d) shroud : screen e) amble : wander tint means to color lightly, while suffuse is to overspread the color. So,amble is to walk lightly or relaxed, while wander is to walk aimlessly and fast.Even,if u don't know the meanings,u could have eliminated the answers and have reached the correct one. 3) frank : secretiveness a) honest : theft b) transparent : light c) free : autocracy d) callow : maturity e) confident : intrepidness Some one who is frank don't do secret things.Hence, one who is honest, don't do theft. Answer is not callow:maturity as callow is immature,so the answer should have been callow:mature I hope u understand. When r u planning to give GRE? Only slight variation I would suggest is over your suggestion for 3's bridge: lacks -> does not display. But that is a small point. The posted OAs for 2 and 3 make no sense to me. Magsood, I think it is presumptuous to assume that honest people don't steal. ETS would never have this as an official answer because it can be debated. The answer must be D (and I am sticking to it :)). I am taking the GRE in late June/early July.

Michael Michael, what bridge would you suggest for #3? I saw the words "callow" and "maturity" and I naturally got excited; I felt it was the perfect choice for the pairing of "frank" and "secretiveness." wasleys
Nevermind Michael, I missed your bridge in your post. "X does not display Y" StevenC, Apologies, I was not very clear. To clarify. 'A person who is callow lacks maturity' is fine, but I felt it would be strange usage to say 'lacks secretiveness', hence the suggested change to 'does not display'. I suspect this is because maturity is generally seen as positive and secretiveness as negative. Lacking a negative quality is, perhaps, not a lack! Riyad Mohammad
the answer for 2 is Damp:Quench; Damp is to give slight moisture and Quench is to wet something exesscively
