Post Give me your comments: Power Lift Gym's Franchise is Sure Way to Get Profit

"Now is the time to invest in a Power-Lift Gym franchise so that you can profit from opening one of our gyms in your town. Consider the current trends: Power-Lift Gyms are already popular among customers in 500 locations, and national surveys indicate increasing concern with weight loss and physical fitness. Furthermore, last year's sales of books and magazines on personal health totaled more than $50 million, and purchases of home exercise equipment almost doubled. Investing now in a Power-Lift Gym franchise will guarantee a quick profit."

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The advertisement contends that opening a Power Lift gym is profitable for everyone. It claims this on the basis of a few points that as well might point in the wrong direction.

First, just the passage implies that as the Power Lift gym is popular in 500 locations, it will be popular in any other town too. It will be true only if the Power Lift gym is popular brand. However, being popular in some locations does not prove it. If there were altogether 5000 Power Lift gyms around and only 500 were able to garner the customers might indicate that the Power Lift gym in contrary to being popular is loathed by the people. In that case, those 500 locations might be popular because of the managerial oversight of local manager. In that case, anyone with no such managerial skills may end up losing his money.

Similarly, the fact that more than fifty millon worth of books on health were sold or the fact that the number of people buying the home exercise equipments fails to clarify as to how that would translate into success for a new power lift gym. If the sell of the book increased, it might mean that people are getting more self conscious and are trying to become independent of the gyms. They may look at many different alternatives such as aerobics and yoga. Moreover, the fact that more people are buying the home exercise equipment might mean a smaller flow of customers to the gym. Which undermines the argument.

On top of these, the success or failure of a gym will depend upon several factors. Even if the Power Lift gym were extremely popular in other locations, they may fail to attract people in a specific location. If there were other gym with long history of excellence and in a town which is patronized by all the people there, then encroaching upon the customer base of the established gym might be difficult or impossible. Similarly, a gym may not be popular in places where the people have a life style that keeps them inherently in shape, such as farming communities or the people may not be conscious about the dangers of the obesity. In addition to these, there is the factor of management. A potential customer base notwithstanding, a gym is sure to fail if the management is full of gaffe.

In summary, the advertisement does not convince me that anyone and everyone opening a Power Lift gym at anyplace and everyplace can garner profits. The results from the survey, the facts about the book and home exercise equipments do not ascertain that people are flocking into gyms. Popularity of the Power Lift gym in 500 location do not attest the strength of the Power Lift brand. Moreover, for success a number of local conditions are crucial that have been overlooked in the argument.

You are not suposed to put your opinions in critique's of an argument. This mistake has been commited by you. Aldo there are gamatical errors in the first paragraph. Otherwise the critiqe is good and the argument has been well comprihended by you
