Red face Comments please!! (the way people look, dress, ...)

"The way people look, dress, and act reveals their attitudes and interests. You can tell much about a society's ideas and values by observing the appearance and behavior of its people."

What is a society? A society is a group of people that share a distinctive culture. I quite agree that we can tell much about a society's idea and values by observing its people. How they look, dress and acts are the factors that influence our judgement. However, should we judge a person according to how he looks?

How people behave are important clues reflecting their society of them. By watching movies and TV shows of Japan, for example, people can tell something about Japanese society. They live in small houses. They are serious people. They drink and sign contracts of business in the same place. Asian people can easily tell Japanese from Chinese and Koreans because there are many behaviors that can only be found on Japanese. Here is my personal experience. Some Japanese go to the BBQ restaurant near my house. I can easily tell who are Japanese before I hear their words. The reason is that Japanese always nod when they talk to each other. If you find a person talk to someone and nod, he is a Japanese. Actually, Japanese are polite. They nod because they respect to the people they are talking to.

What you are "in" will affect how you behave. Black suit represents professional images. Casual dress code makes the employees work comfortably and shows the spirit of the enterprise. The functions of dress are no longer warmth and protection. How people dress tells a lot about a person's inside. For example, Americans wear anything they want when they go to school, supermarket, or even workplace. They just don't care. I believe that the Americans are taught to do not say anything about others' clothes. Therefore, compared to people in other countries, they do not have to dress in ways they want to be seen. Thus, it is clear that we can get the ideas of a society by observing the dress style its people are.

On the other hand, should we judge a person by his looks? I believe it is one of the ways before we really know the person. By talking and working together, we can really know something about the person's inside. It is not a good idea to make friends or recruit new employees by people's looks.

In conclusion, I believe that we can tell much about the ideas and values of a society by observing its people. But sometimes the external appearances do not show the full picture.

Hi, LairNo1!
I suppose you are a new person here? I'm aslo not an old resident here, but I think it's not a very good idea to post too many issue at the same time, as you did. First of all it makes embarassing to view other people' essays. secondly, when you read several essays of one person in a row you get used to a person's style of writing and it becomes more difficult to see mistakes.
I hope I wasn't too impolite, and you won't be offeneded by my words:-)
as for your essay-I liked it. although it contains several grammar mistakes, I liked your ideas here.I suggest you using more introductory words and phrases. Also, in my opinion, you use here such device as asking and answering questions too much. Although, it is my personal opinion, I'm not sure whether it affects your GRE score a lot.
Thus,I hope my critique was constructive and helpful in raising your score.
I also would like to encourage you not only to post your issues, but to comment others.
I wish you good luck in your studies!
