"The best preparation for life or a career is not learning to be competitive, but learning to be cooperative."
Life is most of the time unpredictable. In order to survive it many times one has to make a lot of compromises. At the early ages we are thought that sharing is very important and that we need to have a very good relationship with the people around us. I have to say that both statements are very important if one wants to achieve its goals. It is very important to be competitive and to have very good competition in everything you do from the early ages. For example let's say one wants to play tennis better and better. The only way to achieve that is to play every time for a win and to play with others that at that point play better than him. Being competitive can help you perform at a better level and develop those qualities that you already have. Everybody knows that in our days you can not survive alone. Cooperating with others can help one develop people skills and learn that asking for help it is not a shame. There are many fields in which we can find examples of cooperation between parts in order to achieve a common goal. Let's take war for example. In almost each war known by men kind alliances were created and the parts cooperated in their actions. To sum up for a development of one's character learning how to cooperate and how to be competitive it is very important, and in my opinion they weight the same. These two are fundamental if you want to rise above the mediocrity of the society. |
