"Competition is ultimately more beneficial than detrimental to society"
Competition can be defined as a process or working of individual or group to achieve dominance over Other. The fact, that whether it is detrimental or beneficial to society depends upon kind of competition, people involved in competition .Moreover, it depends upon denouement of process. A group or individual must possess an imperative obligation for salutary competition in order to achieve excellence in one’s individuality and growth for organization. Society consists of group and individuals, a betterment of them would lead to a betterment of society. For example, in case of academics, if competition is fostered in a class it will produce more competitive and efficient individual in their area .When these people will embark in their professional life, no doubt, they would perform their work wth more maneuverability than the people who have come through a class where there was no competition at all. Another example ,in case of industrialization and merchandise ,a monopoly in merchandise always force the consumer to pay hefty amounts: Few years ago, we all know about the prices of cell phone and computers ,they were too high to buy for a moderate earner .Now ,there are so many player in cell phone and computer industry which leads to a competition among them; outcome of the competition is lowering down of prices of their product which has helped many to own a cell phone and computer that they ever wished .Same is true for calling rate of mobile phones. These are the few example which shows the beneficial side of competition .There comes the point when competition is no longer beneficial for society : When done with begrudge ,for example, arms race ,nuclear power race .Many underdeveloped countries are trying hard to accrue their arsenal inventory ,some of them are even in the pursuit of nuclear power, they are spending huge amount .The amount which is required for the basic amenities like health and education is being spent for destructive armament . That ultimately affects the development of country and a lack of vision may lead to a dire consequences. In conclusion, healthy competition is very much necessary for progress of society. On the other hand Insalubrious rivalry or competition done without a foresight may put society in predicament and, even, can wash away the whole society. So it is beneficial as well as detrimental a relativity can’t be established between them. Last edited by grefreak : 2009 October 18th at 09:06 PM. |
