As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate.

I don’t think people will lose their ability of think for themselves gradually as they rely more and more on technology.

What is technology? Technology is some kind of way to use tool to realize some destination by people. For example, people invent stove to cook food, furthermore they produce many food in the factory. The technology of food producing will not deprive off human being’s ability of eating, on the other hand, it is originated to fulfill the ability of eating.

With the same reason, the birth of the Internet surfing, such new information technology, is to broaden ways to know and understand outside world and other people, for people not clogging other’s discovering the world and themselves.

So we can say that people invent tools which called technology because they have some kind of purpose to realize, consequently this process should need the ability to think for themselves. People doing so either for living conveniently, either for appreciating arts, either for healing, which is the original of technology, then how can we say that it’s technology that deteriorates the ability of thinking for ourselves?

Not only the birth of technology but also the process of using technology will stimulate people to think for themselves. For instance, you will go to Germany in winter for the first time as an Australian and you don’t know how to prepare the winter clothes. Then you can ask strangers who living or lived in Germany in the website by posting a thread, after reading all of the answers and advice you will find out the apt way for yourself. That’s the example you think for yourself by using computer information technology.

Furthermore in some situation people have to study skills to use technology, for example, anyone should study driving before he or she got the driving passport. Consequently people should think for themselves well and carefully before they can drive “technologically” with their practicing driving for long time. By this way to study skills of using technology people are practicing the ability to think for themselves.

Actually, sometimes technology will minus people’s ability to think for themselves. For example, children playing too much electronic game which is a process very different with real game with other children face to face. Those children will lose the ability of observing, perceiving and reacting with others in the community. In the electrical fiction circumstance they lose vivid stimulation to think for themselves. That’s to say, they lose some ability of think for themselves.

As a conclusion I agree that technology will stimulate our ability to think for ourselves but we should keep alarm to its inversion toward every aspect of human being life. We build and use technology for better life not for technology’s sake. We should not lose ourselves while become idiots by abusing technology.
