Hi, I am writing for the following prompt:

"A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college" (Are there sample essay responses and critiques from ETS on this one?)

----

A nation embodies a sets of standards for itself from its culture, education of its citizenry, and the overall welfare of its people. National educational standards are a frequent subject of controversy because the overall knowledge level of a country's populace affects the technical capability of its economy and the overall standard of living. A nation should require all of its students to study the same standardized curriculum until they enter college because it will provide an important educational background for everyone and help create a more unified populace.

It's essentenial that a country provides a standardized educational background for its citizens. Having a standardized educational background would make it job, college, and other potential career-based applications simpler and more accessible. If everyone receives a similar education, then everyone can be judged in a more fair and organized manner. A California applying to a job or college in North Dakota should have roughly the same opportunies to to apply for the same position as someone from New York, barring how well they did in school of course. Making college or job recruitment settings take into consideration the regional location an applicant not only would be unfair but add an incredible burden to systems that try and pick out top candidates. However, a national education would do more than just streamline college or job applications, it would help create a national identity.

A uniform educational system would help create a more stable and understanding populace. In the 21st century, emigration and migration are common in most regions, creating vast diversity in populations that spread across contentanal distance. It behooves the nation to help and establish some sort of common ground for its people. A centralized educational system would help establish a common knowledgebase and understanding amongst its peoples. Having a common background would make it much easier for people to have dialogues to discuss their plights, grievances with each other, assist one another, and partake in higher levels of governance. Essentially, if a common knowledgebase is present, then there are far fewer chances for people to be discriminated on because their education and people can feel connected by their common schooling, despite any differences in their origins. By regulating educational standards, a national can help drive common understanding and create comradrie amongst its people.

A nation is construct of civilized people that have organized in order to mutually better each other's lives. Therefore, in order to help a nation progress forward, it must look out for its own people. One critical way for a nation to increase the standards of living for its inhabitants is through education. The benefits of education would be most influential if it was standardized ande widely accesible.

--THanks so much!
