Topic: Government officials should rely on their own judgment rather than unquestioningly carry out the will of the people whom they serve

Government is elected by people, and its decisions should be in favor of people, but this does not means that government officials instead of following their will starts implementing the policies based on the will of individuals

Different people have different opinion, if government officials starts following the will of each individual it can cause a lot of problems. They are many social malaises in a country such as racism, caste etc.. It might be possible that a riot can start in the society because government took into consideration the wish of a group who belongs to the same race as that of government official. This can break the society into multiple groups and could be the reason for riots or other social diseases

Economic decisions act as another example where listening to all can break the market. Different individuals have different needs and each need is directly related to an economic branch. If government starts listening to every individual, economic problems can’t be solved. And a country as a whole will starts lagging from other countries.

Similar is the case of security, where decision depends on the country’s’ current statistics. Terrorism is growing at a much faster rate and the decision to subdue it should be taken by the top brass of the country not the individuals sitting in their home and berating.

But there are certain scenarios where, involvement of locals can’t be neglected. Such is the case with FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) where every individual has different opinion, some wants it whereas others criticize it. The decision to have it in the country should be taken by government officials after looking all its pros and cons, whereas to implement it at district or state level should be considered after having a thorough discussion whit the individuals

Government decisions or policies should not be lopsided; it should be hybrid of government officials plus the general public whom they serve, where the branch to choose from depends on the type of decision and its influence at whole on country and at lower level
