Modern way of life has certainly changed with the development of advanced technology. The contemporary conveniences and luxuries have changed the trends of youth. Hence I agree with the author that effective way to understand contemporary culture is to analyze the trends of its youth

New technology has certainly changed the way people perform certain tasks and hence it has changed the way we live today. It has brought about changes in every sphere of life for our youth – education, social life, and work every thing has changed.

Nowadays, with the advancement in computer and internet, schools offer many online courses. The youth today avail to these courses which are less time consuming and economical. They pursue these online courses while they attend the main school. This makes them more competitive as compared to the youth of the older times and that also in the same amount of time. Moreover, with the advent of this new technology, people no longer need to go to libraries in search of books. Many e-books are available which can be downloaded. Most of older people have pursued the education they wanted to pursue and hence they do not need any further qualifications. Hence the changing contemporary way of education can be seen in the trends of youth today.

Social life has also changed. With the busy life, the youth today socializes mainly through the mobile phones or IM. Many websites that allow you to socialize with your friends have come up, browsing through which gives you an impression as you were meeting your friends. One can put their pictures for other to see. Online dating has also become a trend these days. There are many websites on which people can browse for a prospective life partner. Very rarely would a old person browse through these websites in search for a date. This is because they are already settled with a life partner. Hence, one can see the new trends in the social life of youth today.

The work life of the youth today has also changed. The new technology allows them to work from home. They do not need to go to office. Also, with the new web conferencing people can work together from different corners of the world.

Hence we can see how the contemporary culture has changed today. Most of the changes can be seen in the trends of the youth today. Therefore, I agree with the author that analyzing the trends of the youth is the most effective way to understand the contemporary culture. Mostly, the older people still follow the trends of their time and have not accustomed themselves to these new ways of life.

"Less time consuming and economical"--the word "less" qualifies both "time-consuming" and "economical"--so you are saying the opposite of what you mean to say and contradicting yourself.

Pretty big assumption to make--I would avoid making weak arguments that could be easily refuted. Many old people are in fact not attached. (Think divorce, widowhood etc.)

I think you can also add abt the influence of youth on old ppl.
old ppl are motivated by youths to do things which they have not done before.It can be learning to do an e-mail ,using cellphones or becoming trendy.Major share of the credit for this goes to the new generation which is trying to motivate the old generation to walk along with them in the new era with fresh enthusiasm and renewed vigour.
