Formal educational credentials should be the most important factor in hiring employee
Constructive criticisms/Suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks youuuuu!
GRE Analysis of Issue "Formal educational credentials should be the most important factor in hiring employees" Formal training in the form of professional school, graduate school, or even undergraduate school should be the basis of hiring processes. However, this is only true for specific types of jobs where higher education is sought. A medical doctor, researcher, and engineer are revered for their higher attainment of knowledge. It is preposterous to hire a graduate to perform a heart by-pass surgery that is normally operated by a cardiologist who has been trained extensively in medical school, residency, and fellowship. Therefore, formal training credentials are the necessary requirements for highly specialized jobs. A main reason to continue education beyond undergraduate is to attain more specialized knowledge in a particular field. Usually, an undergraduate learns the rudimentary elements of a field in the two years. Beginning from the third year, the undergraduate will begin to narrow the range of study but develop a deeper understand in those smaller areas. By graduation, the student should have gained some insight or interests in a particular issue. In order for these particular types of students to further their learning in their areas of interests, the must pursue post-graduate studies. Whether it is studying in a professional school or graduate school, the time spent in those institutions builds a person's knowledge, understanding, and expertise in his or her specialized area of study. This invaluable asset can only be gained through higher education. Therefore, for the jobs that require these specialized knowledge should only hire individuals based on their formal education credentials. Furthermore, higher education also sharpen an individuals mind to think more critically. It is not just a way to learn more information. It is through the years of training that the individual's skill to think independently and critically can be capered. The difference between a Master and Ph.D in science lies in the inherent nature of the types of work that is needed. A Ph.D training is not only longer, but also more intense; the Ph.D student must pursue an innovated topic, devise an experiment, carry out the experiment, and give a dissertation at the end. Ultimately, a Ph.D training aims to produce a new member of science who can successfully continue to contribute to the scientific society after graduation. Whereas, the Master's student is limited in his or her learning. Clearly, one with a superior academic training knows more and is capable of more. On the other hand, not all jobs should be hired based on education. Especially in the service industry, experience is much more valuable than academic learning. Even a high school graduate can be hired as a manager of a clothing shop if he or she has the necessary skills in management, sales, and interpersonal relations. Another job to be considered is working at McDonald's. As many high schoolers work part-time at McDonald's for pocket money, it is obvious that the level of education is definite not a concern. Therefore, depending on the job, the crucial decider during a hiring process may not always be education. Consequently, jobs that requires extensive academic training should hire based on academic credentials. For the jobs that value other attributes do not need to place education as first priority. |
