I think it depends on what field you're going into and what focus is heavier - math or verbal? Recently I called a unversity to discuss their GRE score acceptances and I was surprised to find that the dean (?) of the department said verbal scores were more important. I'm a science major and really expected him to say that math mattered more, but I'm sure its all different depending on the university. Give the schools you're interested in a call. Only they can tell you want is more important...it really helps.
I didn't really study for the AWA at all and got a 5.0. That was actually the worse writing I ever wrote for GRE too...I left the test center dejected because I thought I really screwed up the writing. I took the exam 2 other times and knew that I wrote better, but I ended up canceling (because of math score) so I never saw the official score. |
