A good guide to the AWA task can be found here:

Hi dingus,
What is this hype about the E-rater? I thought that only GMAT essays were rated by erater. Do you know whether they allow test takers to write essays on paper? If no, maybe they use E-rater otherwise it seems not possible for them to use E-rater |

 )Yes you can. For a simplified approach to the argument task of the GRE, you might want to have a look at these steps I posted. They might simplify the analysis a bit. http://www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15267 (Best way of approaching AWA???) For the perspective essay, give http://www.aldaily.com a general reading. Follow about ten links from there everyday and read the articles/essays/book reviews. You might get hold of a lot of ideas on common issues. Anyone has used the books "writing skills for the gre....exams" .Please advise as i am looking to get one from amazon.Will it worth the bucks !
