Need review for agrument

Woven baskets characterized by a particular distinctive pattern have previously been found only in the immediate vicinity of the prehistoric village of Palea and therefore were believed to have been made only by the Palean people. Recently, however, archaeologists discovered such a "Palean" basket in Lithos, an ancient village across the Brim River from Palea. The Brim River is very deep and broad, and so the ancient Paleans could have crossed it only by boat, and no Palean boats have been found. Thus it follows that the so-called Palean baskets were not uniquely Palean.

The author cites that woven basket are called Palean baskets because they were primarily discovered in Palea Village. But since the discovery of Palean basket was also discovered in near by village Lithos, authors conclude that Plaean baskets are not uniquely Palean. To bolster his argument, author provides certain evidences which according to me are rife with holes and assumptions.

 

Firstly, author fails to point out the time specific data of Brim river. He cites that river is deep and broad but does not provide time when this status was calculated. Is it the present state of Brim river? If it is a present state of river, this is does not mean that river was deep and broad at the age of Pleans too. There can be a case where this river passes through glaciers mountains and with time the melting of glaciers have made the river bulkier. Moreover, it could be possible that river did not even exist during Paleans age. Hence, commuting to Lithos might have been easy and peripateic. This could also explain why boat was not found in Lithos.

 

So considering commuting to Lithos was feasible, these baskets, found in Lithos, might have came to Lithos during trade between residents of Palea and Lithos where palean were exporters of these baskets. Moreover, it could be case where some residents might have migrated to Lithos. Also, assuming Brim river did exist in during that time, these baskets might have travel to Lithos during the flood in river as both villages were separted by this river. Also, author fails to provide exact quantity of baskets found in both village which could have been deciding factor.

 

Lastly, discovery of baskets in some other village doesn't necessarily mean that baskets are not unique to Paleans. Author needs to reconsider above evidences and provide more valid and specific facts of the Palean era to decide that whether Palean baskets are uniquely of Palean or not.

Considering your first essay I would say it is Ok,if you have written it with in time frame.

 

There are many grammar mistakes and punctuation mistakes. (missing comma). I have pointed out a few.

woven basket is called Palean baskets

nearby not near by

this does not mean and not this is does not

use of transitional words is good.

Add some more points to conclusion.Last paragraph seems incomplete with just two lines.

In the 3rd paragraph the idea about residents migrating to Lithos seems incomplete. You might need to clearly state how it relates to the found basket to improve your analysis.
