    Which Cell Bio Text?

I have a fairly good molecular bio and biochem background, but I have never taken a cell bio course.

Many people mention Alberts book -- but there are two books of his out there.

One is "Molec Bio of the Cell" the other is "Essentials of Cell Bio" -- which should I get if I just want a cell bio review?

    Amazon.com: Essential Cell Biology, Second Edition: Books: Bruce Alberts,Alexander Johnson,Julian Lewis,Martin Raff,Dennis Bray,Karen Hopkin,Keith Roberts,Peter Walter
Amazon.com: Molecular Biology of the Cell, Fourth Edition: Books: Bruce Alberts,Alexander Johnson,Julian Lewis,Martin Raff,Keith Roberts,Peter Walter

    Hi Jones,
At my school we offer two freshman biology courses, one for biology majors and one for students who don't intend to continue in biology. The biology major course uses MBOC ("Big Alberts"), the other students use ECB ("Little Alberts"). I have TA'd the course that uses ECB and I can tell you that it is at a lower level than I would recommend for someone preparing for a Biology GRE. I recommend MBOC.

Oh, and I almost forgot: if you go to NCBI and click on Books on the black menu bar, MBOC (presumably an older edition) is on there. Search for something and you will be able to read the whole thing (the link just shows the contents). This link works for me:
