GRE biochem, how many tests a year?
Hi people!
I am going to sit for GRE Biochem next week. In case the score is not good enough I will probably sit for another time of the same test this year. But I don't know how many time the test is held a year? When will be the next GRE biochemistry test this year? I did not find the necessary information at ETS website and I am new to GRE subject test. By the way, what scores do people normally get to be able to be accepted at American universities? |

Hello GREBiochem,
There's no specific test date for GRE biochem. In fact, there'd be 3 test dates for GRE subject tests: April, October, and November. You can take any subject tests: Biology or Physics or Biochemistry, Cell & Molecular Biology and such. I don't know exactly common percentile of GRE subject test score which would help support strong admission. As you're sitting for GRE biochem, have you considered any Uni so far? |

Hi Holme!
Thank you. I will only take GRE biochem because I really need it to strengthen my application. I graduated with minor in Anatomy and thus have very weak background in Biochem, Molecular biology, genetics and Cell biology. My undergraduate GPA is awfully low. Fortunately my master score is good enough and I have one paper in print. I intend to apply for a 30th-50th college in US college rank because that will be more realistic for me. I want to go into stem cell or cancer research. In case I get anything lower than 90 percentile I think I will retake the exam in October. I also plan to take General GRE and Toefl this year. |

Hello GREbiochem
Me too, I'll be preparing for GRE general test only after subject test. As undergraduate study's still fresh, I'm just taking the subject test. For Postgrad Uni, you may want to check out this QS Top Universities: Top 100 universities in the THES - QS World University Rankings 2007 Though overall score point for each university might vary and put them in ranking order, certain specific fields change the ranking too. I'm also keen on cancer biology, check life science ranking too. |
