Hi,
Im from India and I want to take AGRE in Computer Science for fall 2011 admissions. I was thinking about taking my exam on April 2010. But found that in India, the tests are conducted only in Nov. And I feel that Nov 2010 is too late for me. My question is - Can I take my exam in Singapore? In Singapore the test is conducted in April 2010. My nationality is Indian. If there is no prob with this, I can give my Indian address details to send the admit card and scores, and I will take my exam in Singapore. |

For Fall 2011 admissions, you could just take it in India in November 2010, with sufficient time for score reporting. But yes, you can take the exams in another country. However, it may not be worth it. For most people with a good/decent GPA in CS, their time would be better spent doing research.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.. Most of the universities' deadlines are dec or early jan. If I take my exam on Nov 2010, how can I apply for fall 2011? Considering the time taken for the results to be out and to report the scores, it will be very late IMO. Is it not so? Thats why I decided to take the exam well in advance. But found that Nov 2010 is the test date here. And, thought of taking exam in Singapore on April 2010. Any other options? |

Ok.. If it is not worth it, then what are my other options?
Im from Electronics background. Did my B.Tech in NIT, Trichy. My GPA was 6.77/10. Im working in IBM as s/w developer. Exp -> 2+years. SCJP certified. Now preparing for SCJD. Can my work experience with good GRE general scores help me in getting CS in a good university? If I can get CS admit without GRECS then fine. Even I do not want to spend more money. |

Hi,
That thread is really helpful. It seems that I can report my scores in time. And thats great. Moreover, I will have more time to prepare for AGRE. Hurray, I can do lot of stuffs in this one year along with my work. And, I do not have to spend for flights and hotels. I have already took GRE this year with a score of 1110 [V-330, Q-780] with 2 months prep. Im planning to take GRE again next year, maybe in June 2010. The point is I have been spending more for exams these days. I will take my exam on Nov 2010. I will start my prep soon. Thanks guys for your suggestions. |
